A group of friends, far way from Bengal, where they hailed from, sat on many an autumn soaked afternoon in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, pining for their familiar dhaak, kashor, shankh, shiuli and dugga pujo. However, with their limited means and resources, all they could revisit was a Saraswati Pujo. They kept pining for their own Sharodotsav.

Life is most susceptible to changes. By now, life has brought that group of friends together in another city, while the dream of realising their own pujo was still quite a distance away. What truly happened during this time, was that the group grew in size. Friends from various walks of life joined in. The community which shall many years later find shape in Probash & Co., had yet just found its home, the beautiful city of Delhi. 

With passing time and relative growth of their combined capacities, it was time once more to ponder on the big question of realising a Durga Puja.

The Saraswati Puja was restarted in Delhi. However, constraints of resources, both physical and economic, caused the plan for a Durga Puja to be put on an indefinite hold.

Towards the beginning of the year, when these friends came together to celebrate Holi, in spring, it was felt that it is time to embark on the journey of bringing Uma home. Probash & Co., was formally conceived when in autumn their own Durgotsav commenced at Chittaranjan Park, New Delhi. 

The journey which began many autumns ago, now has firmly gained shape. Probash continued to expand, as more friends, and in turn their friends, joined in the celebrations, actively participating in organising it. Probash now has an active community of friends and well-wishers who look forward to its events to celebrate our collective heritage.

The years of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns, threw a spanner in the normal functioning of things. Yet the determination of its members, saw Probash safely organise its annual fair. To bring together our friends and families from overseas, as also for those who were compelled to isolate themselves indoors, Probash commenced livestreaming all its events. Our journey continues, in getting together for Durga Puja, Lakshmi. Puja, Saraswati Puja, Pochishe Boishakh, and such other occasions.
